For the second year in a row, Warriors guard Klay Thompson was close, but ultimately was denied the crown as NBA 3-point shootout king, losing to Devin Booker of the Suns in the championship round.
The NBA has announced that Suns guard Devin Booker will replace injured Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard in this weekend’s All-Star Game and 3-point contest. John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 first reported (via Twitter) that Booker would be Lillard’s replacement for both events.Booker, 23, was widely considered the most notable Western Conference snub when the 2020 All-Star reserves.
Although this is his first All-Star Game, Booker has been part of All-Star weekend in each of his five NBA seasons. He has been in the 3-point contest three other times, winning the title in 2018.
All-Star Saturday is Feb. 15, one night before the All-Star Game. The list of competitors for the 3-point contest this season includes Portland’s Damian Lillard, Sacramento’s Buddy Hield.
The league had hosted the 3-point contest each of the past two years during halftime of the All-Star Game, but this year’s events are packaged together as a separate competition beginning at 4 p.
The 3-point contest is frequently one of the best parts of the NBA’s All Star Weekend and again it did not disappoint as Steph Curry — dare we say — choked in the final.

NBA All-Star 2020 The NBA is changing the format of its annual 3-point contest during the All-Star weekend festivities. The long-range competition smacked on the same night as the Skills Challenge and Slam Dunk Contest on Feb. 15, will have an expanded time to shoot more 3-point attempts, including two more from a longer distance.
