The Beechcraft Baron is a light, twin-engined piston aircraft originally developed by Beech Aircraft Corporation and currently manufactured by the Hawker Beechcraft Corporation, an Onex Holding Corporation. The Baron is a variant of the Beechcraft Bonanza, more specifically the Travel Air, and was introduced in 1961.Beech also offered a Twin Bonanza line; they featured some design commonality.
The direct predecessor of the Baron was the Beechcraft 95 Travel Air, which incorporated the fuselage of the Bonanza and the tail control surfaces of the T-34 Mentor military trainer. To create the new airplane, the Travel Air's tail was replaced with that of the Beechcraft Debonair, the engine nacelles were streamlined, six-cylinder engines were added, and the aircraft's name was changed.
Anyone who has flown a Beechcraft will have come away impressed with the line's quality and, especially, the handling qualities. All the way down to the lowly Musketeer, Beech just took pains to get the airplane's handling qualities a cut above everything else, and that applies in spades to the Baron series.
The MilViz B55 package also now includes add-on and avionics options that were, at one time, separate purchases. These have now been included as selectable choices at time of product installation. In addition, the B55 installer also has a new format that eases installation, letting the user select which platform to install to, as well as what avionics options are to be installed.
